Five years ago Cate Harley and Andy Bell set about rescuing what they
realised was an invaluable slice of Queensland industrial archeology.
The result can be described as Australia's first mine stay, where
guests are invited to experience the flavour of life on the diggings,
with none of its hardships.
Accommodation consists of three heritage-style cottages: two are new
and the third is a superbly restored manager's house (complete with
rickety verandas, pressed irond ceilings and Boy's Own annuals on
the bookshelf). The new heritage-style cottages offer two bedrooms
(one double, one with twin beds), bathrooms with hip baths, well-equipped
kitchens, comfortable lounge rooms and full-length verandas for taking
in the bush views.
