Located on the remote, stunning shores of Admiralty gulf in the far north Kimberley region, Kimberley Coastal Camp is the ultimate retreat for those seeking a truly different wilderness escape.

Access into Kimberley Coastal Camp is by sea or air only. Upon arrival into this eco-friendly camp, all you have to do is decide whether you want to be active or laid back; set your own pace and leave the rest to your wonderful hosts.

A large rustic dining table is the scene for those wonderful gourmet meals Kimberley Coastal Camp is famous for. Whether it is wild saltwater barramundi straight from the ocean, succulent oysters plucked from the rocks, delicious mud crabs taken from the mangrove lined creeks or a simple pizza garnished with rosemary and drizzled with olive oil, the cuisine here is guaranteed to inspire.

After spending your day taking part in any of the activities on offer return to the luxurious permanent camp. Make use of the swimming pool overlooking Admiralty Gulf. The swimming pool with stunning water views is an ideal place to cool off at the end of the day with an icy drink in hand, prior to pre dinner snacks served with a Kimberley sunset. Sunset is the time to relax, soak up the ambience of the Kimberley's region and reflect on your day.

Accommodation

Scattered amongst the red sandstone and native grasses, spacious guest gazebos offer privacy and comfort. Taking full advantage of the tranquil views over Admiralty Gulf, 'your room with a view', is simple but stylish featuring king size/twin single beds, flyscreened walls and a ceiling fan.

Open to the gentle sea breezes, the nucleus of Kimberley Coastal Camp is known simply as 'The Shed'. A large open sided pavilion hand built using recycled timber with high raked ceilings, this is the ideal place to discuss the day's adventures, relax with a book from the library, listen to some great music or just listen to the waves lapping on the shore.

Activities

If fishing is the way you like to spend your time at Kimberley Coastal Camp, you'll find the fishing in Admiralty Gulf truly magnificent. These really are untouched waters and you have access to huge tidal rivers, mangrove creeks, estuaries, offshore reefs and islands. There are also many deep-water options. The amazing variety of species of fish includes Barramundi, Mulloway, Mangrove Jack, Trevally, Mackerel, Tuna, Coral Trout, Cod and Blue Bone. Mud crabs and oysters also inhabit these pristine waters. Operating on a catch and release basis, only those fish destined for the Dinner table are retained from the day's catch.

For those wishing to explore the beautiful and rugged countryside of Kimberley's, a half-hour walk from camp will take you to Mackerel Point; from here you can see the whole of Port Warrender and the nearby islands.

Other walks at Kimberley Coastal Camp will take you inland through wild terrain. Some of the species of birds that frequent the area include Great Billed Heron, Chestnut Rails, Grey Goshawks, Brown Tailed Flycatchers, Little Terns and Sea Eagles. You may also view some of the wildlife in their natural habitat including Crocodiles, Rock Wallabies and Quolls.

While at Kimberley Coastal Camp, take a scenic boat trip to one of the deserted islands waiting to be explored, or take a short helicopter flight from the camp to the spectacular Mitchell Falls in the Kimberley's. A longer flight will take you along the uninhabited coastline to surprising gorges, waterfalls and perfect picnic spots.

The north Kimberley is home to some of the oldest known rock paintings. The most well known rock paintings are the beautiful Bradshaw paintings. Hidden amongst rock faces and caves scattered over this ancient land, they are simply astounding. They have been dated at over twenty three thousand years old and represent a culture now lost in time.
